The Thrown Ups - FadedFlannel.comThe Thrown Ups

Leighton Beezer, Bass
Ed Fotheringham, Vocals
Mark Arm, Drums
Steve Turner, Guitar

Formed in 1984, Seattle

Leighton Beezer apparently started this band with the wild idea that each show would have a gimmick and that they would never practice, instead they would fly by the seat of their pants.  They opened for Husker Du on their first show, oysters ready to toss at the crowd they expected to boo at them.  They didn't boo, but the crowd got showered with the wet seafood anyway.

Originally the band included members Steve Mack as vocalist, Scott Schieler on drums and Mike Fallhauber on guitar.  In 1985, everyone except Leighton split the band, making way for guitarist Steve Turner to join in with Mark Arm on drums and Ed Fotheringham as vocalist.  The Thrown Ups became the first group that was signed to the label "Amphetamine Reptile Records", put together by Tom Hazelmeyer of Halo of Flies.  Seattle producer Jack Endino had a big hand in the band's mixing and recordings.
