Formed in 1986-88, Bellingham WA

   Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow starting writing songs together in 1986.  In late 1987 and early 1988 they recorded twelve tracks at Auer's home studio, planning to use them to find members to fill out their band.  Those tracks actually became their first, although self-released, project...put out on cassette originally, until the local Indie label Pop Llama picked up the project. 

   Drummer Mike Musberger and Bassist Rick Roberts joined them shortly after and they started playing shows around the Pacific Northwest and lived together for a short time in Seattle's University District.

In 1989, the Posies signed their major-label deal with DGC Records.  They released three albums with the Geffen label and called it quits.  Two years later, they came back together and released "Success" back on the Pop Llama.  They've since reunited several times for different shows and projects, their latest being "Every Kind Of Light" in 2005.  Auer and Stringfellow's songwriting and melodies gave Seattle a nice, unique sidestep from the usual sound of the city.
