Everclear:
"The Vegas Years"
Features
the band's take on 14 Classic Songs...
Never
shy about their influences and the music they grew up on,
multi-platinum rockers Everclear have long been known for saluting the
band's roots by recording and performing a dynamic and eclectic array
of covers. Now, Everclear's best studio and concert recordings have
been gathered for a new collection, "The
Vegas Years", released on April 15th by Capitol/EMI.
Produced by Everclear singer,
guitarist
and songwriter Art Alexakis, the disc features 14 covers the band
recorded between 1994 and 2007, including versions of Hall &
Oates' "Rich Girl" and Paul Revere & The Raiders' "Kicks".
The
collection begins and ends with live performances from Everclear's 2007
national tour: Tommy Tutone's "867-5309 (Jenny)," adopted by the band
as a high-energy show closer, and Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl,"
which can also be heard on 2001's platinum-selling "Songs From An
American Movie: Learning How To Smile" album. The rest of the
tracks are
culled from various studio sessions and include rare and
never-before-heard recordings. Also included are Everclear's
takes on Yaz's "Bad Connection," Cheap Trick's "Southern Girls," Thin
Lizzy's "The Boys Are Back In Town," Neil Young's "Pocahontas," The
Go-Go's' "Our Lips Are Sealed," Woody Guthrie's "This Land Is Your
Land," Little Jimmy Dickens' "Night Train To Memphis" and two classic
TV theme songs.

Mark
Lanegan-Greg Dulli Team Up
The Gutter Twins
Mark Lanegan has long
been a personal favorite of mine. His vocal style has few peers,
at least
in this era. His musical soul exudes an incredible passion as
well as some deep pain. The depth of his range can move you into
whatever direction he wishes to take you.
.
It's a haunting,
sometimes chilling feeling I get when I hear Lanegan's voice. His
duet with Layne Staley on "Long Gone
Day" can still give me goose bumps. Lanegan could use his
voice
to sing a child to sleep with a lullaby, just as easily as he uses it
to bring a grown man to crowd surf.
.
Mark Lanegan has
released a half-dozen solo albums and even more with The Screaming Trees.
He's lent his deep, moving voice to such projects as Mad Season, Queens
of the Stone Age, The Twilight Singers, The Soulsavers, Isobel Campbell
and now his latest collaboration
with Greg Dulli as The
Gutter Twins.
.
The new CD,
"Saturnalia", is their first full-length album together and offers up
the best of Lanegan and the best of Greg Dulli. They are
currently on tour supporting their new project

Gossard's side project first release in
six years...
Brad is back: "Best Friends"
Stone
Gossard's side project has been a long time
coming,
but it's getting closer to reality. Gossard formed this band in
1993, as a creative side-project to his
main group, Pearl Jam.
Their first project titled "Shame"
came out that year, but we waited four years
until their second, "Interiors"
was completed in 1997 and another five for their third, "Welcome To Discovery Park", in
2002.
Alas, six years later, Gossard has finished mixing
the band's fourth project to be called "Best Friends". It
contains material recorded in 2004, at this point looking like eleven
tracks.
Brad recently acqured the rights to their previous
releases, as well as those from Satchel and Malfunkshun, and will
likely re-release those projects in some form, in the future. MORE

Screaming Trees
.
Mark Lanegan
attended high school in his hometown of Ellensburg, Washington, and
became on again, off again friends with two brothers, Gary Lee and Van
Conner, who attended the same school. In 1985, they recorded
their first demo EP, followed by their first full-length,
"Clairvoyance" on Velvetone Records. They also appeared on the
SST and Sub Pop labels until signing with Epic at the end of
1990.
Screaming Trees
first album on Epic,
"Sweet Oblivion", was their breakout project and their first with new
drummer Barrett Martin.
It also featured the hit "Nearly Lost
You", which also appeared on the "Singles" soundtrack.
Screaming Trees endured a few off times,
before officially calling it
quits after a summer 2000 show.
